Name: "A Thousand Words" Visual Arts Exhibit Reception at Harrison School for the Arts
Date: March 3, 2017
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM EST
Event Description:
Harrison School for the Arts will host a reception for the Visual Arts Exhibit “A Thousand Words”. The reception will take place on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 6 p.m. in the art gallery on the main campus located at 750 Hollingsworth Road, Lakeland, 33801. The students will participate in a workshop on February 24 led by Lauren Sleat to learn more about alternative contemporary drawing approaches. The work produced during this workshop will be on exhibit around the campus and in the gallery. Students will explore drawing “beyond the pencil” and will experiment in breaking the traditional canon boundaries. This workshop class will incorporate numerous warm-up activities and technique explorations, beginning with basic line drawing and shading and progressing towards broader interpretations of drawing, such as transfer methods, drawing in space, drawing with the blade, and more. This two-day workshop will culminate in a project that incorporates all of the types of drawing that will be studied. We hope you will join us for the exhibit and reception. Harrison School for the Arts is located at 750 Hollingsworth Rd., Lakeland, FL 33801. This event is free and open to the public.
