Schedule of Activities 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Vendors 12:00 Noon - 5:00 PM DJ Live Horses Dancers Music Singers Fashion Show Bounce House Game Trailer "May Day" Reenactment (May 20, 1865) Early Afternoon This wil be a reenactment of the historic day, May 20, 1865, when the enslaved were finally emancipated (freed) in Florida. ?This Program will include... -Union General Edward M. McCook will ride up to the stage on horseback accompanied by group of United States Colored Troops (USCTs). -A brief lecture explaining events leading up to May 20, 1865, June 19, 1865 (Juneteenth), and December 6, 1865 (13th Amendment). -A reading of Field Order #3 -General McCook will read Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation as a means of its enforcement, and he will declare slaves in Florida are free. ?Festival sponsored in part by the Florida Department of State and the Florida African American Heritage Preservation Network, Inc.
